Still trying to figure out if there's a better way to organize things, but from the way things seem at the moment, there isn't a need for separate topics for each world for reporting, nor for compilation (Since I'm pretty much the only person in this project).

This topic will be used to maintain the current list of all hackers reported in the Hacker Reporting Topic. If you have any screen shots of hackers to report, please post them there, and not here.

This topic will only maintain a list of hackers, and no images. It may or may not contain more detailed information if I can figure out a simple way of displaying it without taking too much space. Hackers should be maintained in alphabetical order, including the name's case for clarity and simplicity.

I'd give you the few I screenshotted, but they've all been banned by now. I'll try to catch people in Bellocan or Bera and help out, but I will rarely see anybody.

They may not be banned, but only off-ranked so you might as well submit their names. It wouldn't necessarily hurt. I'll probably eventually sift through the list and label ones that are off-ranked/banned.

Joe why don't you just link the post that gives the hacker's info to the hackers name on this list? I used this on the original list and it seemed to work pretty well because it gave all the hackers info without taking up room on the list and it also used the hacker reporting topic that was already created to make it that much more useful.

I can't seem to link to an individual post, only redirect to the post's position in the topic. I just got a good idea though, if I can figure out how to do this. Thanks.

The best way to do this is to quote the person's post, preview it, then use the link on the top of the preview to simply redirect back to the persons original post. Then use the [.url][./url] tags to post the link with the name inside.

Hm. Yeah, I guess there isn't a better way to do this. That particular image by the way doesn't display the hacker's name underneath his character, so it's invalid. I'll change the topic right now but I might not finish. I have... five minutes before the bell goes.

I was just using that as an example of how it can be done. The reason that I think that this way is better is because it uses the data that the person has already entered and instead of making this just a lists with pictures it becomes a list with facts on the hackers, that anyone could easily find a certain hacker instead of going through the entire hacker topic.

The entire point of making both these topics is for everything to be together. In the hacker topic you post the screenshot of the hacker and the facts about that hacker and this list is a simple way of sorting them in some type of format so you can in a glance see who is a hacker. There's no reason why you should have 2 separate links to something that should be the same (the post in the hacker topic about the hacker should contain all the data you need to prove that the person is a hacker). This is the most simple and direct way to have a database on a forum. The reason I chose the post that I did was that, even though it the screenshot was invalid it was a good example of how every link to a hacker should look like.

Joe the point that I am trying to make here is that they shouldn't be separate (The picture of the hacker and the data) and even though the list is small it doesn't matter because the point of Maplenoobs is to report hackers, no matter how many.

What I meant by keeping them separate was the images from this topic, because, as you said, since the link in the hacker's name redirects to the post with the image and the information already in it, it does seem redundant. But my current posts have direct links to the images themselves as opposed to displaying them with the [img] tags because some people were having issues loading them, so that's where the idea of having the image here as well came into play.

And what I was talking about with the list being small is that we're not getting much contribution. Though I suppose people don't really have much reason to go out and find hackers nowadays. They're not stealing valued leveling maps, just hiding in the most obscure areas that hardly anyone visits.

Its just when I first thought of doing it like this, I had some very specific things that I wanted to do in it and when I saw you weren't doing some of them I was just making a few suggestions for you to make the list better. Thanks for your hard work at this, I know that updating and making this list isn't very fun, but if possible I'll help you as much as I can.

Ah, I see. Are there any more specific things for either of these topics you want me to change? Since you've probably put a lot more thought into it than I have.

The only issue I'm currently trying to resolve is the Hacker Reporting Topic and the best way to post images there since people seem to have trouble loading some of them. Not to mention I have no idea how much the bandwidth limit on an imageshack account is, if it's even more than just anonymously hosting images there. I'll make a photobucket account sooner or later though to make sure these pictures don't just vanish. I have hard copies anyways.

Split it.

We're in the process of creating a new system so this list will most likely be temporary and may or may not be removed when the new system is in place.
