Thank you to the community so far for keeping your eyes out for the adbots that have been seen so far.

For you people that already haven't seen, we seem to be in the midst of a spambot "attack." Over the past 24 hours we have had some eight or nine spambot registrations, all for the same thing. I am currently taking care of each one as they happen while trying to find a way to get rid of them all with my limited power and resources.

Unfortunately with the forum software we are running, we can't do any better as far as anti-spam measures go. IP.Board 3 does have it's own anti-spam registration system but as we are a highly customized forum, an upgrade isn't very possible right now.

Please remain vigilant and on the lookout for these dirty bots; If you find one, PM an admin or an smod immediately.

Besides the battle system (which only like 3-5 of us even use...) and awards...what exactly is customized?

I am unsure what a 'plain' board looks like in comparison.

The QuestDB was custom made, as was the skin. Changes would have to be made to both to accomodate a major upgrade.

I wouldn't know if the attack system has a 3.0 version (doubt it) or the arcade. There is an awards mod for 3.0, but I dunno if it's the same type.

The whole decision as far as upgrading goes is way out of my league though.

I think they would need to pay for an upgrade as well since I know once you purchase a license with some companies you need to like repurchase something else in order to upgrade after so much time (lame asses).

Guess it'll come down to whether or not they want to do it just for spambots.

I suppose the custom theme would simply be a case of applying it to the new board, and ironing out the differences in the CSS code until it matched the upgrade perfectly. You could easily make the alterations to the current codes by analysing and comparing the new one to it, and making the adaptations when you're confident enough to do so.

Don't ask why, the only coding I know is playing around with CSS a little >_>;;

I got it too! These damn chicks from the Middle East... they don't know when to stop. I actually took the time to reply back to one of these e-mails a while ago so that's how I knew.

I wouldn't say all are spambots. Based on my curious, boredom-based, and irritated-based experience, some are very much real.

There's not much I can do to keep guests from viewing profiles right now. I wish I knew where Suz and Lindsay were.

I am going by instinct though and am gonna ban at least one account I've noted as suspicious.
